It Was Bound To Happen
Nick and I went to Old Navy today to take advantage of the 2 for $5 flip flop sale. (Not that I need any more, but that's not the point) Nick found a pair of shorts that he wanted to try on and took them back to the dressing room. He came out to show me how they looked and as Nick and I had a conversation about how cool the shorts were, the middle aged gentleman that was working in the dressing room looked at me and said
"I'll trade you...I can't get my son out of anything but Abercrombie!"
Nick looks like my son???...WTF? I know I'm 7 years older, but damn.

My Boyfriend Rocks...If I May Say So Myself
Just thought I would gush a little about my super sweet boyfriend. He baked my birthday cake. That is correct...baked my birthday cake. Chocolate with chocolate frosting. Yum!

Edge-cellent
I love living in a country where I am constantly amazed by the stuff people invent, and as an avid baker, I LOVE this pan. Why the hell didn't I think of this? All edge brownies...brilliant.

Letter To a Thief
To the asshole(s) who broke into my car a couple of weeks ago...
Thanks for breaking the smallest window (*although most expensive to replace)
Thanks for stealing my stereo, but being courteous enough to not cut the wires. (saved me
$20 on the $200 replacement)
Thanks for leaving your screwdriver...it's exactly what I wanted.
(*but a serious thank you to Nick who spent his time in a junkyard, ripping a window out of another car to save me $215)

Winter In Colorado
So as I have said in previous posts its been snowing here for what seems like forever. So Nick and I have had to become a little creative in our activities. Dont worry were still going out and playing darts whenever possible, but trying to find other things to do when its freezing outside has been difficult. Last weekend we decided to take a drive up north to the Butterfly Pavilion. It is definitely for kids age 2-12, but don't let it scare you away, it was actually cool. (and we dont really get to see butterflies in Colorado) It's worth the $8 admission and a good way to kill an hour or so during the Colorado winter.

Happy Valentines Day, Part 2...Dinner
Nick and I decided to stay home for Valentine's Day instead of going out to fight the crowds. We also decided that
since we had a gift certificate to a gormet meat shop, we would make something we never eat. We bought 3 lbs of crab legs (the seafood guy was cool and hooked us up with some colosal ones too)
As a kid I went crabbing in Oregon, but since then I have probably had crab legs twice, and I think Nick had only had them once before. We made a homemade steamer out of a stock pot, a pyrex bowl and a plate. We also had gruyere potato gratin and creamy garlic shells, it was so good, we ate all but 3 legs.
Happy Valentines Day, Part 1...Best Boyfriend Ever
So my boyfriend who can't keep presents from me, decided to give me my valentines day gift 2 days early! (because that's when it came in the mail) I can't say he doesn't listen...he got me the Pinto purse. How awesome is that? It's SO cute. Yea Nick!

Super Bowl Eats
So we were invited to a super bowl party/get together at our friends Ben & Val's house. I thought I would make the infamous Buffalo Chicken Dip to take as a nice snack. Well, it's super easy to make, the hardest part is hand shredding the chicken. It looks a little gross but tastes pretty damn good. It's all the flavor of chicken wings without the mess on your fingers. Get the recipe here.

Cars...More Than Transportation
I love seaching the internet for interesting goods to buy, or wish I could buy. (See list on my sidebar --->) As some of you already know I mentioned the seatbelt bag last year and my mom bought it for me when she was on a business trip. I have carried it everyday since, but it's starting to get dirty. I'm sure there is some fancy seatbelt cleaner available but to be honest I kinda want a new purse and then I'll clean this one for later. Ok, so now that I've said all that, I found these bags and I LOVE them. They are made from vintage automotive fabrics.

I am especially fond of the 1977 ford pinto, the 1978 ford mustang and the 1977 chevy caravan. The Pinto is definitly my favorite, not only is it cute enough to carry everyday, but it's got to be a GREAT coversation starter.

Stupid F*ckin' Snow

Gush
So I know I've been gone for something like 69 days, (not to mention the 43 days before that) but I think I'm ready to take on the blog once again. I can't promise daily like before but... we'll see.
Lets start with a little catch up...
Nick and I have been together for 8 months now. Yay!! Everyone who knows us, knows what a feat this is. We had a bit of a rocky start.
I have changed jobs after 6 years at the hospital and I can't begin to tell you how happy I am. I'm not responsible for anyone anymore and damn it feels good. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side.
It has snowed here at least one day every week for 6 weeks now. I'm soooo tired of snow and cold. I know, I know, I live in Colorado, but trust me it's been years since it's snowed like this. We haven't seen the dead grass for weeks now.
I have to go bake some peanut butter cookies for our friend Jon's birthday tonight. See ya!

I Guess I Remember How To Do This...
So I guess it's been a month since I've posted. Where did it go?
It goes something like this...working...sick...working...sick...
mini vacation...quit my job.
I got the same cold/flu crap everyone else has and then it settled in my lungs, so I got an upper respiratory infection. I'm on my second round of antibiotics and still not feeling all that hot. My mini vacation was a trip to Grand Lake, Colorado with Nick, Ali & Charlie. It was SO much fun..you can see the pictures of Nick and I making out at FlipFlops if you so desire. It is a little later in the season than we are used to but a 'Shasta McNasty*' tastes the same no matter what time of year. I quit my job because I have a new one...starts October 16th...more about it later.
*Shasta McNasty = 180 energy drink with a shot of orange vodka dropped into it
It's a funny story, but I think I'll explain it in another post.
