Happy Valentines Day, Part 2...Dinner
Nick and I decided to stay home for Valentine's Day instead of going out to fight the crowds. We also decided that
since we had a gift certificate to a gormet meat shop, we would make something we never eat. We bought 3 lbs of crab legs (the seafood guy was cool and hooked us up with some colosal ones too)
As a kid I went crabbing in Oregon, but since then I have probably had crab legs twice, and I think Nick had only had them once before. We made a homemade steamer out of a stock pot, a pyrex bowl and a plate. We also had gruyere potato gratin and creamy garlic shells, it was so good, we ate all but 3 legs.
Happy Valentines Day, Part 1...Best Boyfriend Ever
So my boyfriend who can't keep presents from me, decided to give me my valentines day gift 2 days early! (because that's when it came in the mail) I can't say he doesn't listen...he got me the Pinto purse. How awesome is that? It's SO cute. Yea Nick!

Super Bowl Eats
So we were invited to a super bowl party/get together at our friends Ben & Val's house. I thought I would make the infamous Buffalo Chicken Dip to take as a nice snack. Well, it's super easy to make, the hardest part is hand shredding the chicken. It looks a little gross but tastes pretty damn good. It's all the flavor of chicken wings without the mess on your fingers. Get the recipe here.

Cars...More Than Transportation
I love seaching the internet for interesting goods to buy, or wish I could buy. (See list on my sidebar --->) As some of you already know I mentioned the seatbelt bag last year and my mom bought it for me when she was on a business trip. I have carried it everyday since, but it's starting to get dirty. I'm sure there is some fancy seatbelt cleaner available but to be honest I kinda want a new purse and then I'll clean this one for later. Ok, so now that I've said all that, I found these bags and I LOVE them. They are made from vintage automotive fabrics.

I am especially fond of the 1977 ford pinto, the 1978 ford mustang and the 1977 chevy caravan. The Pinto is definitly my favorite, not only is it cute enough to carry everyday, but it's got to be a GREAT coversation starter.

Gush
So I know I've been gone for something like 69 days, (not to mention the 43 days before that) but I think I'm ready to take on the blog once again. I can't promise daily like before but... we'll see.
Lets start with a little catch up...
Nick and I have been together for 8 months now. Yay!! Everyone who knows us, knows what a feat this is. We had a bit of a rocky start.
I have changed jobs after 6 years at the hospital and I can't begin to tell you how happy I am. I'm not responsible for anyone anymore and damn it feels good. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side.
It has snowed here at least one day every week for 6 weeks now. I'm soooo tired of snow and cold. I know, I know, I live in Colorado, but trust me it's been years since it's snowed like this. We haven't seen the dead grass for weeks now.
I have to go bake some peanut butter cookies for our friend Jon's birthday tonight. See ya!

I Guess I Remember How To Do This...
So I guess it's been a month since I've posted. Where did it go?
It goes something like this...working...sick...working...sick...
mini vacation...quit my job.
I got the same cold/flu crap everyone else has and then it settled in my lungs, so I got an upper respiratory infection. I'm on my second round of antibiotics and still not feeling all that hot. My mini vacation was a trip to Grand Lake, Colorado with Nick, Ali & Charlie. It was SO much fun..you can see the pictures of Nick and I making out at FlipFlops if you so desire. It is a little later in the season than we are used to but a 'Shasta McNasty*' tastes the same no matter what time of year. I quit my job because I have a new one...starts October 16th...more about it later.
*Shasta McNasty = 180 energy drink with a shot of orange vodka dropped into it
It's a funny story, but I think I'll explain it in another post.

Elvis Gooey Butter Cake
I got brave a couple of weeks ago and found this recipe online. (thanks Paula Dean) It sounded awesome, so after consulting my co-workers I decided to bake it.Here is the recipe...
Cake:
1 (18 1/4-ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, melted
Filling: 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 whole banana
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter
1 (16-ounce) box powdered sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter together and mix well. Pat into a lightly greased glass 13 by 9-inch baking pan. Prepare the filling.
Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla. Add the peanut butter; beat. Add the banana and butter and mix well. Add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread over the cake mixture.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. You want the center to be a little gooey, so do not over bake.OK, lets just say....EWWW! It was nasty. I brought it into work and only two people liked it. That's right folks, two out of 65 people would actually eat it. What the hell? That's the last time I get brave with something other than chocolate. You can never mess up chocolate.

One Ocean View
In the tradition of crazy reality shows like Filthy Rich Cattle Drive, I started watching One Ocean View on abc. Remember how Fabian was such a pain in the ass on the FRCD?
Well Usman is going to be the pain in the ass on this show. He's arrogant, egotistical and way too concerned about his hair. It's gotta make for good tv right? (Mondays 9pm mtn)
