Beer Math

Thanks to fellow blogger Matt Holzmann for this bit of trivia

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute.
Work this out as you read...Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

  1. 1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have beer (more than once but less than 10)

  1. 2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold).

  1. 3. Add 5

  1. 4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

  1. 5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1755 ....If you haven't, add 1754.

  1. 6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have beer each week).
The next two numbers are YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2005) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

Lesson of the Year

450 Sheep Jump to Their Deaths in Turkey
By Associated Press Fri Jul 8, 7:30

ISTANBUL, Turkey - First one sheep jumped to its death. Then stunned Turkish shepherds, who had left the herd to graze while they had breakfast, watched as nearly 1,500 others followed, each leaping off the same cliff, Turkish media reported.
In the end, 450 dead animals lay on top of one another in a billowy white pile, the Aksam newspaper said. Those who jumped later were saved as the pile got higher and the fall more cushioned, Aksam reported.
"There's nothing we can do. They're all wasted," Nevzat Bayhan, a member of one of 26 families whose sheep were grazing together in the herd, was quoted as saying by Aksam.
The estimated loss to families in the town of Gevas, located in Van province in eastern Turkey, tops $100,000, a significant amount of money in a country where average GDP per head is around $2,700.
"Every family had an average of 20 sheep," Aksam quoted another villager, Abdullah Hazar as saying. "But now only a few families have sheep left. It's going to be hard for us."

So remember when your parents asked "if your friends jumped off the bridge would you?" I wish I had known this story as a kid because my answer would have been "Yeah, if 1500 people jumped before me!"

Chili Frickin' Peppers?

Here it is in all its glory. This is what my grandmother sent me for Christmas. Nothing says "Merry Christmas!" like a chili pepper sweatshirt. Not only are the chili peppers, bow and garlic hand painted with super glossy paint but its too small.

Where the hell am I gonna wear this?

I love her dearly, but the sweatshirt in addition to the hair brush with her hair still in it....WOW!

I guess the only way it could have been worse is if I got this too?

Let's Recap....

Hey I'm back...I didn't actually go anywhere, I just didn't feel like posting. I hope your holiday was/is super. So here is a short recap of my holiday weekend....

Friday Night...We went to the bar to drink beer, surprise! I had a few too many, surprise!

Saturday Morning...I went to 'brunch' at my dad's house. Okay, I was SOOO hungover. The 3 mimosa's I downed in a half an hour made zero difference. After the barrage of "Are you dating anyone?" questions I watched a little football, opened some gifts and barely ate. Eww...stomach churning.

Saturday Afternoon...After brunch I drove to my mom's house. Wow, could they possibly live any further apart? No, I don't think so. I walked into my mom's house she took one look at me and said "Wow, you're so hungover!" and then went to get beer. My mom is the coolest ever. So after a few beers, dinner and 4 episodes of the first season of LOST, I was so ready for bed. There is nothing like getting in bed at 8:30 pm on Christmas Eve. Awesome!

Sunday Morning...Presents!! I got really cool stuff from my mom and my cousin Todd! But I got the best present ever from my grandma in Texas. (I'm so being a smartass here, and once I get home and take a picture of it you'll see what I'm talking about) We had breakfast and I of course cut myself. Oh yeah, it wouldn't be a holiday without me hurting myself in some way. (I burned my hand with scalding water for my birthday a couple of years ago) We watched a couple more episodes of LOST and I went home.

Since I haven't posted in a few days most of you don't know about "The Challenge." ok, quick detour so I can explain. Ali & I decided to buy Nick and Charlie Christmas gifts. (If you read FFIS you know who they are) We got Nick this and Charlie a Boondock Saints hoodie. Ok, we were happy with what we got them and then "the challenge." Nick and Charlie wouldn't be outdone and talked shit for days about how the gifts they were getting us had to be better than the gifts we got for them. Ali and I had never been in a Christmas Present Challenge before, so you know we had to step it up a little. In addition to the two original gifts above, we bought them hats from the bar we always go to. We decided that wasn't enough and just had to make them t-shirts. There has been a long standing joke about how Ali and I are "dating," only because we're always together, so of course Nick and Charlie must be "dating" as well. So the back of the shirts have their pictures and they say "I'm With Him" and the front says "BFF Forever" Aww, isn't that cute?
Can you guess who won "the challenge?" Hell yeah we did!! Sorry guys, your gifts were AWESOME, but not quite enough. (I will devote an entire post to the cool gifts we got from Nick and Charlie later)

Sunday Night...We went to the bar for "the challenge" and post challenge beers. It was cool hanging out with friends on Christmas. I missed Ken and Holly's Steak Extravaganza though, sorry guys, but there is an awesome video of Ken singing on FFIS if you need a little pick me up.

Sorry, I know I said this post would be a short recap. See what happens when I don't post for days.

Why Is It Always When I'm Tired...

So much for going to bed early...

Isn't That Nice (& a Little Sad)

This couldn't happen to me right? 0f course not

Forlorn Lover Leaves Ring in Unlocked Car
By The Associated Press

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. - An anonymous gift-giver, apparently depressed over a lost love, left a $15,000 diamond engagement ring in somebody's else's unlocked car in a commuter parking lot.

The ring came in a box topped with a white bow and accompanied by a note, which read:
"Merry Christmas. Thank you for leaving your car door unlocked. Instead of stealing your car I gave you a present. Hopefully this will land in the hands of someone you love, for my love is gone now. Merry Christmas to you."

A 37-year-old Northborough man found the three-diamond, white gold ring on the seat of his car, which he had parked at the MBTA train station in Westborough on Dec. 7, The MetroWest Daily News of Framingham reported Thursday. He called police to report the find four days later, after he had the ring appraised. "This appears to be random, but we don't really know," said police Lt. Paul Donnelly. Police declined to identify the man. A police report said he had decided to keep the ring.

I leave my car door unlocked one time and some punk kids steal my stereo, this guy leaves his unlocked and he gets a diamond ring, wtf?

Life Gem?

Ok, my mom approached me with this idea yesterday and I want to know what you think of it. We have always talked about being cremated after death, but I'm still a little torn with this idea. At first, the only thing I could say was Ewww! and then we started talking about it and then it didn't seem so bad.
Take the poll over here and let me know what you would do ---->

There is a company that will take the ashes of your loved one and make them into either a blue or yellow diamond. Quick Stats: They need 8 ounces of ash to make the gem, they come in sizes from .20 - 1.0 carats, prices range from $2,699 - $19,999 and it takes 6-9 months to make each stone. (depending on the color you choose)
What? all that's after cremation and funeral services.
So go to the website and read about it and/or just take the poll.

(Hey, if my mom is willing to set aside a cool $20,000 I might consider it, but I want the full carat)

Ouch!

So I just hit my head on my car door coming back from lunch. (Don't ask) So far no blood but I feel a little out of it and want to throw up. I'm sitting here with an ice pack on my head, not working, because all the nurses yelled at me and told me I had to. Do you think I can go home? No, I get to sit here for the next 6 hours. Why does this shit always happen to me?

Glow In The Dark Roses?

OK, seriously this scares me a little. I'm not a huge flower person, especially roses, but I sure as hell don't need them to glow in the dark. And at twice the price of regular roses? No thanks

Scary Unicorn

Ok, now this unicorn might be scary....This is what happens when 'Nick' our adopted virtual pet doesn't get fed.

Fuck The Hiatus & The Snow

YEAH!! I got 11 hours of sleep last night. (The best sleep ever btw) Anyway, I promised myself when I started blogging that I would try to post everyday, and I did up until Sunday. So fuck the hiatus, I'm back.

Sorry guys, 11 hours of sleep makes me a little feisty....
For those of you who don't live in Colorado, it snowed yesterday/last night and so the drive in this morning was unbelievably slow. First, I woke up late, because when I went to bed at 7 pm last night I forgot to set my alarm. I got ready, ran downstairs, almost killed myself crossing the parking lot, and jumped into my car. Just fucking fabulous, it wouldn't start. I called work to tell them I was going to be even later than I thought and sat in the car a few more minutes freezing my ass off because there is no way I was making the dangerous trek back to my apartment. Finally, it started. I was driving to work and this jackass in his F-250 behind me decides he would like to drive faster than everyone else. Great Buddy, where ya gonna go? So he pulls around me and speeds past all of us in a lane that doesn't exist, he almost caused like 3 accidents. I'm so glad he has a huge truck that doesn't do well in the snow, good for him. It was cold as fuck today with the high of 3 degrees. I cant wait for tomorrow's high of 30!! The only redeeming part of my day was I was only an hour late for work and got to leave an hour early, how does that happen?

I don't know why....but I said 'Fuck' a lot in this post.

Hiatus

So apparently I'm needing some downtime. I didn't get around to posting on Funday and Blogger was down last night, So...Yeah, I'm gonna take a little break. I'll be back either when I get enough sleep or have something truly interesting to say.
